Philanthropy Board
in Jackson Co.

PBnJ (Philanthropy Board in Jackson Co.) is the cooperative effort of the Maquoketa Area Community Foundation and the Jackson County ISU Extension service. PBnJ will give young people the opportunity to examine and identify the needs of the communities in which they live, report and evaluate their findings, identify key challenges and needs of their communities, and consider how they can effectively meet those needs. Through their participation, they will strengthen their leadership skills, learn to build consensus and make decisions as a group. This Board will provide an important insight into philanthropy and its impact on a community’s quality of life.

Grant applications are available from the Philanthropy Board in Jackson County (PBnJ). Preference will be given to proposals that demonstrate a direct interaction with youth & to those involving youth in leadership roles. The projects should connect to existing community initiatives that build on Jackson County’s strengths and assets. Applicants should identify measurable outcomes and long term plans for sustainability. This grant program is separate from the Maquoketa Area Community Foundation’s grant cycle. Application for this grant will not disqualify an organization from applying to the MACF.
