Youth Philanthropy Board Grant Application Available Grant applications are now being accepted from groups and organizations involving and serving Jackson County youth. The Philanthropy Board in Jackson County (PBnJ) is announcing their grant application, now available. Grant applications will be accepted until April 11, 2011.PBnJ is a cooperative effort of the Maquoketa Area Community Foundation and the Jackson County ISU Extension office. PBnJ was created to provide Jackson County high school students with an opportunity to examine and indentify the needs of their communities, to report and evaluate their findings, identify key challenges and needs in their communities and to award grants to groups striving to meet those needs. Students from each Jackson County high school were invited to be represented on the board. Members learn about philanthropy, the value of belonging to a community and the importance of giving back to those communities. In the fall, they conducted community needs assessments in their communities to identify areas of need. They will make grants to initiatives which address those areas of concern. Grant applications will be accepted from organizations providing programs and services to youth. Preference will be given to those involving youth in leadership roles. Grant requests submitted to this program are not considered grant applications to the Maquoketa Area Community Foundation grant cycle. Organizations may apply to both programs.
